A framework agreement was signed on Thursday in Algiers between the Ministry of Industry and the Italian car manufacturing group FIAT providing for the launch of a car construction project in the Tafraoui industrial zone in the wilaya of Oran.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of the Minister of Industry, Ahmed Zaghdar, and Carlos Tavares, CEO of the Stellantis group, the world's fourth largest automotive group, which has the FIAT brand in its portfolio.
The framework agreement was signed by the director of international cooperation at the Ministry of Industry, Zineddine Boussoussa, and the director of the Africa and Middle East region of the Stellantis group, Samir Cherfan, in the presence of the ambassador of Algeria to Italy and the Italian Ambassador to Algeria.
Under this framework agreement, the Italian manufacturer will launch in Algeria a project for the construction and production of FIAT brand vehicles and will develop the brand's industrial activities and after-sales and spare parts services.
